Frequently Asked Question

Prices and Range Fees at USI

All shooters must sign-in at the range office (R/P) or club house (Shotgun) prior to using the ranges.

Q: Does USI rent firearms?

A: No. USI does NOT rent or loan firearms of any type. You must bring your own rifle, pistol, or shotgun.

Q: Does USI sell ammo and other shooting supplies? How much is your ammo?

A: USI has rifle, pistol, shotgun shells, wads, primer, powder, targets, “Shoot N See” targets, ear plugs, ear muffs, glasses, cleaning supplies, bore snakes, oil, etc. available at competitive prices. Members of any of the five clubs receive a slight discount on all merchandise.

Q: Is Firearms instruction available at USI?

A: YES. Private instruction is available (by appointment), taught by a NRA Chief Range Safety Officer and Instructor certified in Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun, and CAL/DOJ/HSC.  Classes are held in the USI classroom and on our range.  Additional information is available at this link: Friedman & Associates Defensive Handgun Training & Education.

In addition, individual clubs do have programs for youth, women, and new shooters (check with each club). Action Pistol shooting requires that you attend a two day orientation and safety class prior to using the Action Pistol range. Youth programs for shotgun and rifle are available through the Musketeer’s Program.

Q: Do I have to be a club member to shoot at USI?

A: No. USI’s ranges are open to the public, during our posted business hours. Anyone is welcome to join one or more of the five (5) clubs at USI to receive “member price” discounts. Each club handles their own membership process.

Q: Our company or business is interested in holding an event at USI (team building, picnic, shooting event, etc.). Does USI allow groups to use their facility?

A: No. USI is a private club, which is open to the public during  normal business hours. We do not have facilities for such events, nor do we allow non-members exclusive use of any range.

Q: I am interested in taking a Hunter Education / Hunter Safety Course. Does USI offer this?

A: YES. Hunter Safety courses are available via an independent instructor who uses the USI classroom. This program is through the California Dept. of Fish & Game. Please click the Hunter Education tab in the menu.

Q: What training do I need before I can shoot at your range?

A: New shooters using the rifle and pistol range receive a “safety orientation” prior to using the range, and will be required to demonstrate firearm safety. A “purple card” will be issued to show you have successfully met the requirements. The “safety orientation” is available when you sign-in. New shotgun shooters must read and understand the rules posted on each field, and will be monitored by the Range Safety Officer.

Q: Does USI have food and beverages available?

A: Yes. Our club house (next to the shotgun fields) has hot dogs, soda machines, beer sales, and snacks. During some club shoots, the kitchen is open for full lunches. Please check with the club hosting the shoot to find out if food will be available.

Q: What is the speed limit at USI?

A: All members and guests are restricted to 15 MPH on USI property. Be aware of children, shooters wearing ear protection (who may not hear your vehicle), and dogs off leash.
